For estate agents
Estate agents often come across land and buildings with development potential. If you act for the seller, we will consider your client's site and pay an introducer fee only where one is agreed in writing before details are shared, and only once your client has confirmed to us in writing that they know about the fee and its amount.
How do we work with estate agents?
- Send sites you are instructed on, with your client's consent
- Any fee agreed in writing before details are shared
- You tell your client about any fee, including the amount, in writing and obtain their agreement
- Fees are paid only on completion of our purchase, once the owner has confirmed the fee to us in writing
What rules apply?
If you act for the seller, the Estate Agents Act 1979 and National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team guidance require you to tell your client in writing about any personal interest or financial benefit connected with a sale. Taking a payment from a buyer while acting for the seller also needs your client's informed agreement. We will confirm any fee to the landowner in writing, and you must be supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes where you carry out estate agency work.
