Our lawful bases
- Legitimate interests: responding to enquiries about land and assessing sites, including sites introduced by agents.
- Steps before a contract: where you ask us to make an offer or enter into an agreement.
- Legal obligation: keeping records we are required to keep, including anti-money-laundering checks where they apply to a transaction.
- Consent: analytics cookies and live chat cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time using "Cookie settings" in the footer.
The tick box on our forms confirms you have read how we will use your details; we rely on legitimate interests, not consent, to reply to you.
Who we share it with
We use service providers who process data on our behalf: Web3Forms (form delivery), Tawk.to (live chat), Google (analytics, if enabled and you consent), and our email and hosting providers (including Netlify). If you choose to message us on WhatsApp, WhatsApp (Meta) processes those messages as an independent controller under its own terms. If a transaction proceeds, we share information with solicitors, surveyors and other professional advisers involved. We may share information within the S&K Group for the purposes above. We do not sell personal information, and we do not pass your details to other land buyers.
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
If an agent gave us your details
If an estate agent or other introducer shared your details with us, they told us they had your permission. When we first contact you, and in any case within one month, we will say who introduced the site and point you to this notice. You can ask us to stop at any time.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry information for up to 24 months after our last contact, unless a transaction proceeds. If it does, we keep records for as long as needed for legal, tax and accounting purposes, usually up to six years after completion.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, object to or restrict how we use it, ask for a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent. Contact us using the details above. If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
